12 years ago (yesterday, I needed FB to remind me) I set up my Mrs H Facebook page.... by the end of the day I had just over 100 followers and a paypal link and it completely blew my mind, now 12 years on I'm waddling along with over 30,000 of you and I just cant put into words how utterly bonkers yet amazingly brilliant that is. I've gone from selling a few ducks at the local primary school Christmas fair to selling over 500,000 on etsy and the website! BONKERS!!
I know in the world of 'going viral' (who wants to be a virus) that I'm 'small fry', but to me, its everything. I love that so many of you have found me and the ducks, and have chosen to follow along and support me, be that by ordering, liking and sharing my social media posts or just watching my reels of Ted and his babies, it all means the world.
We've been through a lot in those 12 years, I finally convinced Mr H to dig up the boggy field and build a mahoosive pond, I've hatched a lot of babies in the kitchen, we've lost some old favourites to the sly fox and a scary goss hawk, Teds become the best duckling baby sitter ever, the garden has been trashed multiple times, but lordy do I have the greenest grass come summer!
I've moved from the kitchen table, to the small office and finally out to the studio of crafting dreams. We navigated 'rona', a recession, the energy crisis (Its' been bloody cold in the studio and I've even brought stock home to dry in front of the fire at times), three teenage kids, some amazing highs and heartbreaking lows....oh and the perimenopause WTAD (what the actual DUCK)... and you've stuck by me this whole time, I cant begin to explain or express my gratitude. In a world where everything changes on a spin, the 'next thing' is here before the paints dried on the previous... I'm very lucky that I just waddle slowly along doing my thing, painting ducks and you all choose to stay, so THANK YOU!
There's a house sale, house build and working out where I'm going to work all happening this year, which is all very exciting if not a little overwhelming.... fingers crossed we make it to 13 years.... surly in the current climate that makes me practically vintage?
now I'm off to check in on Gertie goose who's gone broody in the last 3 days, its all very eggciting... I'll keep you posted on that and anything 'cooking' in the kitchen....
love Mrs H xx
